EMC announces its membership with the London Internet Exchange

The affiliation will benefit EMC’s quality connectivity and global coverage expansion

LONDON, UK – MAY 2010 – As part of a continuing enhancement of its internet backbone services, EMC has become an active member of the London Internet Exchange (LINX). LINX one of the world's largest internet exchange points (IXPs) comprised of a mutually owned membership association for operators of Internet Protocol networks.

Since 1994, LINX has acted as the focus for development of the Internet infrastructure in the UK, Continental Europe, North America, Asia and Australia.

LINX offers connectivity to their members through dual LANs which are both logically and physically separated having its own IP address range and dark fiber network. “This solution, along with the future improvements included in our plan, will allow our customers to have a consistent connection with the main ISP and ASP of the world”, explained Guillermo Vazquez, EMC Networking Engineering Manager.

The new enhancement will benefit EMC customers of an improved global connectivity and reach-ability, not only in the UK and Continental Europe, but all around the world via satellite and terrestrial EMC links.
